Aussie rider Joshua Brookes picked up a well fought second place at round 2 of the 2008 World Supersport Championship held at the Phillip Island circuit.
Laro Leathers teamed up with Josh to supply him with his very own customised Laro GP1 gloves for his 2008 World Supersport title challenge.
Spurred on by an impressive 4th place at round 1 in Losail, the Stiggy Hannspree Honda rider continued to shine by dominating most part of the practice and qualifying sessions at Phillip Island. When race day finally came around, the dog fight was on, with the likes of Andrew Pitt, Brock Parkes and even a late charge from McCoy saw positions change continually throughout the race.
Last lap was complete mayhem, with Pitt in front and Brookes chasing tail. The last dash to the line saw Brookes with a tighter line out of the final corner and in the slip stream of Pitt. However, with the straight running out of road fast Brookes happily took a very close second, beaten to the finish line by only 0.062 of a second!
Josh now leading the championship later said:
“It wasn’t as good as 2004, when I won, but it was a fantastic and very close race. I would like to thank the team for believing in me and for doing a great job this weekend. It was a very tough, hard race but great fun at the same time. I’m sure all my friends, family and fans really enjoyed the race and they must have been biting their nails at the end. Pitt and I put our heads down and charged for the line, but in the end he got it - by just sixty-two hundredths of a second!”
The team at Laro Leathers would like to congratulate Joshua on his outstanding effort. We are also very grateful for all the feedback he has given us into the development of our GP1 race gloves.
